The primary reason people think there weren’t people of color in those areas in those times is because MEDIA NEVER PORTRAYS THEM AS BEING THERE.

Looks like the clock has restarted for another of the many men exposed by the #MeToo movement. John Lasseter, the former creative chief of Pixar and Disney Animation who took a leave of absence in November 2017 amid accusations of sexual harassment, has already landed a new job at Skydance Animation as their new head. In a statement announcing the news, Skydance Media CEO David Ellison acknowledged the allegations saying that Lasseter had apparently paid his penance: “John has acknowledged and apologized for his mistakes and, during the past year away from the workplace, has endeavored to address and reform them.”

Several female employees at Pixar and Disney accused Lasseter of unwanted physical contact and encouraging a “sexist and misogynistic culture” at the company, which the women alleged was covered up by Disney executives. Lasseter took what was described as a “sabbatical” from the company and apologized in a memo to staff for making “missteps” in his behavior without elaborating further on what those missteps were; it was later announced that he would leave both Pixar and Disney by the end of 2018.

Time’s Up has issued a statement admonishing Skydance for hiring Lasseter despite the allegations, saying that the decision sets a precedent for welcoming predatory people back into Hollywood with open arms:

there’s a big difference between “food waste” as in “farmers destroy tons of food to avoid exceeding quotas” or “supermarkets throw away this much edible food because it doesn’t sell”

and “food waste” as in “it is not actually within the capacity of humans to perfectly predict and track household food consumption, so a certain amount of food per household inevitably goes bad and has to be thrown out every year”

transexualizer

the idea that food waste is the product of thoughtless consumers rather than corporate greed is really insidious

This is literally the most heart warming story I have read on Twitter so far.
I think this is exactly what friends should do, and I feel everyone deserves people like this.

A barn rasing:  a collective action of a community, in which a barn for one of the members is built or rebuilt collectively by members of the community.

because you cannot, you CANNOT, build a barn on your own, and without it, you will not be able to survive.

What a fuckin’ gem of a sentence. “What we did today was a barn rasin”

Silicon Valley’s ‘Startup Castle’ is looking for roommates, and the requirements are completely bonkers

plasmalogical

good thing i listen to exactly one song with explicit lyrics every day

nazerine

I’ve been saying this for a while but Startup Bro is the new and terrifying lovechild of the brogrammer and the business major and he is somehow even more self-centered and bigoted than either of them

hapabap

No, no, guys, look closely.

This house is looking for extremely physically fit young men (No drugs, no makeup, no special diet, exercise 15 hrs a week) who are passive and docile (no protests, no music lyrics with swears) who, most of all, will not be missed if they disappear (very little social media presence, not rich enough to own expensive luxury items, no need to constantly be in contact with their parents over bills/gifts, few identifying markings like tattoos)

This is obviously an organ harvesting operation.

Actually it turned out that the guy who was running it wanted to create a quasi-paramilitary organization.

There were so many horror stories about the place in the news that the landlord evicted everyone.

(Gotta say, though, that I like the organ harvesting scheme better.)

ajani-on-the-spot

“It would have been better to have found out this was an organ harvesting scheme” is not a sentiment I expected to see today, and yet.

what my parents told me: you can do anything if you set your mind to it

what I wish my parents had told me: sometimes you will fail, and it will be scary and it will suck, but you will probably not die

dsudis

I would also have appreciated: the fact that you can do something if you try very, very hard, does not actually obligate you to spend your life putting forth maximum effort to achieve it. It is okay to not be 1000% driven by life-consuming ambition and instead be satisfied with something less difficult.

Jewish and Muslim people go on Chopped and are made to cook with pork and they make it work, one vegan goes on and refuses to use any meat products he’s given and they have an all veggie episode for him.

rainbow-femme

The final basket had honey in it and e refers to it as a total nightmare scenario. Go talk to the Muslim woman who knocked out a pork loin without being able to taste her dish about dealing with nightmare baskets

death-deafying-stuntman

My mum was watching a baking show where a 20 year old Muslim woman was a contestant. They had to make an alcoholic dessert. She nailed it despite not being able to taste it. When she mentioned that she couldnt (not as a complaint or excuse) everyone gawked at her and someone said “how old are you???”. Like, really?

rainbow-femme

I saw that one! Seemed like purposeful sabotage when your contestant can neither religiously or legally taste the ingredient
